Reverend William Sasso

Carbondale Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

“Service as a Spiritual Discipline” The Bhagavad Gita counsels us that the wise work not for themselves, but for the welfare of the world, and this theme resonates through the scriptures of many world religions. We are called to serve others, but how is that supposed to work in our society? What do modern-day Unitarian Universalists learn by thinking about our service as a spiritual discipline? Does it make sense for like us to link these two concepts together?

The Rev. William Sasso ("Bill") has served as minister of the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship since August, 1999.  He holds advanced degrees in both ministry and business administration. In June, 1999, after completing a five-year program of study, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Ministry (with distinction) by Meadville/Lombard Theological School in Chicago.  His doctoral thesis examined Unitarian Universalism and issues of aging.  In 2002, he was granted full fellowship in parish ministry by the Unitarian Universalist Association's Ministerial Fellowship Committee.
